Harayama Pool one of four summer pools in Saitama City

We lost another summer outdoor pool in Saitama City last year. Numakage Park summer pool closed its doors permanently on August 31st 2023 after 52 years of operation. It is particularly regrettable as it was one of the few pools that allowed you in with tattoos (once they were covered). There are now four municipal summer pools left in Saitama City. This post includes information for three of them, that operate the same dates and with the same conditions. The fourth, Mihashi Park outdoor pool, operates on different dates. 3 x Saitama City Summer Pool

Each of the three pools in this post are open on weekends and public holidays between July 6th and 15th and then will open daily from July 20th to September 1st 2024. Once again this year, they each require that you purchase a ticket in advance from a 7-11 convenience store. The tickets go on sale from 10 am on June 26th 2024. Moreover, they are each limiting the number of tickets per day. The pools are:

  1. Owada Park Pool 小和田公園プール
  2. Harayama Citizen Pool 原山市民プール
  3. Shimoochai Pool 下落合プール

1. Owada Park Pool 大和田公園 プール

The Owada Park Pool is the largest of the three. They have a wave pool, pool with sliders and a children’s pool. Therefore, it also has the most tickets each day. They will sell up to 4600 tickets each day. It costs 440 yen per adult and 220 yen for children. They have lockers, which cost 50 yen to use.

Hours: from 9 am to 6 pm between July 6th and August 14th and until 5 pm from August 15th to September 1st.
Access: about a ten to fifteen minute walk from Omiyakoen station on the Tobu Urban Park line.

2. Harayama Citizen Pool 原山市民プール

The Harayama Citizen Pool, 原山市民プール, pictured in the featured photo at the top of the post, will sell up to 2800 tickets per day. Entry costs 440 yen per adult and 220 yen for children. They have lockers, which cost 50 yen to use.

Hours: from July 6th to August 14th the pools are open from 9 am to 6 pm, from August 15th to September 1st they close at 5.30 pm.
Access: About a 30 minute walk from Urawa Station or you can get a bus from either Kita Urawa station or Urawa station. The pool is a five minute walk from Komaba Sports Park bus stop. There is no parking lot.

3. Shimoochai Pool 下落合プール

The Shimoochai pool is the smallest of the three. They will sell up to 1300 tickets per day. Entry costs 320 yen per adult and 100 yen for children. This pool has a parking lot. It costs 400 yen per hour. There is also an indoor pool, but they are separate. In other words, you have to pay separately.

Access: about a five to ten minute walk from Yono Hommachi Station which is on the Saikyo Line. As above, there is parking.
