Saitama Prefecture announced today that Saitama will be under a State of Emergency from Monday August 2nd to Tuesday August 31st. Further to this announcement several pools that had planned to open from Saturday July 31st will not open after all.
Summer Pools that are closed in 2021
First up, the pools that are not opening in 2021:
- Sakado outdoor pool they announced in early May that they will not open the pools this year
- Toda Summer Pools at Kodomo no Kuni also announced early on that they will not open the pools this year
- Kawaguchi Green Center
- Numakage Park Outdoor pool were another that gave due notice that they will not open. They are actually undergoing a large scale renovation. Can’t wait to see what they have done with the place in 2022!
- Owada Family Pool – Niiza – are also another pool that are taking advantage (?) of the situation with the Coronavirus to upgrade their pools
- Owada Park Pool – Saitama City -(🔗Japanese language only) is also closed in 2021
- Fujimi Garden Beach will not open in 2021
- Waseda Park Pool underwent renovations over the last year. Supposedly they are finished, but they are currently not planning to open in 2021.
- Chichibu Muse Park pool will also not open in 2021.
- Aquapia in Kumagaya announced at the end of June that they will not open their pools this year.
Pools that had planned to open, but cancelled further to SOE
Several pools had planned to open in 2021, they had even started selling dated tickets in advance. However, once the State of Emergency (SOE) was announced, several have posted to say they will not open. If you had bought a ticket for any of the following pools, you can receive a refund at place of purchase.
🏊Saitama Aquatic Park
you must buy a dated ticket in advance, available from 7-11 convenience stores in Saitama prefecture only. Tickets go on sale July 24th. Cancelled due to the State of Emergency.

🏊Shirakobato Water Park
you must buy a dated ticket in advance, available from 7-11 convenience stores in Saitama prefecture only. Moreover, a time will be allocated to you on your ticket. Cancelled due to the SOE.

🏊Kawagoe Aquatic Park
you must buy a dated ticket in advance, available from 7-11 convenience stores in Saitama prefecture only. Tickets go on sale July 24th. The pools will not open after all due to the State of Emergency.

🏊Kazo Hanasaki Water Park
you must buy a dated ticket in advance, available from 7-11 convenience stores in Saitama prefecture only. Tickets go on sale July 24th. Moreover, a time will be allocated to you on your ticket. It was decided on July 29th that the pools will not open after all due to the State of Emergency.

🏊Mizonuma Kids Pool
2021 Details: Split into two sessions – morning and afternoon. Only 100 visitors per session. Furthermore, only open to residents of Asaka and you need to book in advance for a weekend visit.

Pools that are open
🏊 New Sunpia Hotel Pools
2021 specific: first come, first served – they are only allowing 1200 people in per day.

Season: mid July to September 12th 2021
Hours: 10 am to 5 pm during the pandemic
Cost: 1200 for adults, 600 yen for children

🏊Tobu Super Pool
2021 specific: you need to purchase a dated ticket in advance online.

Season: July 4th to September 5th (please note in July and September it is only open on weekends and public holidays).
Hours: 9.30 am to 5 pm
Cost: 3,100 yen for adults, 1,500 yen for kids

Season: July 10th to September 5th. Night pool on select dates – generally weekends -during this period.
Hours: 9 am to 5 pm, to 7 pm on the dates the night pool is on
Cost: 2,900 yen for adults, 1,900 yen for adults and seniors
🏊Musashino Mura Children’s Pools
2021 specific: as a preventative measure, they will have two “sessions” this year. A morning session and an afternoon session. Only a certain amount of customers will be allowed to use the pool per session. Between noon and 1.30 pm the pools will be closed for disinfecting.

Season: Sunday July 18th then from Thursday July 22nd daily to August 29th.
Hours: Morning session – 10 am to noon. Afternoon session – 1.30 to 3.30 pm
Cost: Entrance fee to the amusement park is 2400 yen for adults, 2000 yen for children 3 years old or over. You also have to pay an additional fee for the pools, the price has not yet been announced for 2021.
When there is no State of Emergency, you can generally find summer pools in various hotels around the prefecture. The pools at hotels generally open from the third week in July.
