For the first time in three years, Santa Claus will be visiting the Aeon Mall in Hanyu City, Saitama Prefecture.
Santa Visit in Hanyu
Before the pandemic, the Aeon Mall in Hanyu was one of Santa Claus’ regular stops on his annual trip to Japan. He hasn’t been able to visit the last few years, but he is back for a photo op in 2022. Participants of this Santa event will be able to get their photo taken with Santa and he will give children candy too. Like most Santa meet and greets in Japan, you will need to have your own camera with you.
However, in order to participate there are two conditions. The first is you must be able to show that you have thumbed up Aeon Hanyu on the Aeon Mall App. The second is that you must have proof of purchases for 1000 yen or more at Aeon Hanyu on the day. If you qualify and are one of the first 30 in line, you will receive a participation ticket. They start distributing the participation tickets at 10 am. But the Santa visit will be at either 11 am, 1 pm or 3 pm. Presumably they will tell you which time when they give you your ticket.

A bus goes from the West exit of Hanyu Station. Aeon Mall Hanyu has a large free car park.
