This year Shiraoka will have their first ever “Autumn Colors Festa”. It is an upgrade of a two events that they used to have around this time of year, before the pandemic. Neither festival was on for the last four years, so they decided to invent a new large scale autumn festival. I must say, it looks very good, on paper anyway.
Shiraoka Autumn Colors Festa
This is Shiraoka City’s long-awaited large autumn event where people of all generations can come into contact with food, agriculture, nature, and culture through various hands-on events! There are seven different zones in total, four of which offer food of some description, such as a farmer’s market, a Costco fair and a local gourmet zone selling, for example, Shiraoka noodles (the first winner of the Saitama Prefecture local noodle grand prix).
In addition, in two of the zones there is an opportunity to interact with animals. For example, you can pet alpacas and ponies or get your photo taken with a hawks or an owl perched on your arm. They will even offer the chance to experience falconry. There will be rescue cats at the festival too, some of them are looking for a new home. There are also workshops, physical fitness tests and robot building. Furthermore, there will also be events for children such as mazes and ball pools.
