Toda Furusato Festival

The Toda Furusato Festival was one of the few festivals that was on in August 2022. Just before the pandemic, in 2019, the festival returned to the city hall area for the first time in fourteen years. And this year it will once again be held in and around Toda City Hall.

Toda Furusato Festival

Furusato is the Japanese for hometown. It is a typical local summer festival with the usual offerings of food booths, festival stalls, live performances (including taiko drums) and traditional dance. In 2023, it is on Saturday August 19th and Sunday August 20th.

Children’s festival

Within the Toda Furusato festival there is usually a children’s festival “Todakko festa” on the Saturday. The Todakko Festa has several special events for children. In a normal year, it includes a children’s mikoshi (portable shrine) parade. That element wasn’t on in 2022 to avoid close contact between school (elementary and junior high) students. Hopefully it will be back in 2023. Also, normally there are several competitions for children and live music performances by children too.
