Todabashi fireworks are one of the biggest in Saitama. What makes them particularly special is that they are run in conjunction with Tokyo’s Itabashi fireworks. The Itabashi fireworks launch the same night, on the far side of the Arakawa River, in Tokyo.
Todabashi fireworks
Both the Todabashi fireworks and Itabashi fireworks in Tokyo will be on in 2023 for the first time in four years. This will be the 70th annual Todabashi Fireworks. They are on Saturday August 5th 2023. However, please note, there is no free viewing area in 2023. Tickets are already on sale for the 2023 event. Update July 10th 2023: tickets are already completely sold out.
When are the 2023 Todabashi fireworks?
Saturday August 5th 2023, but please note in 2023 you needed to reserve a ticket in advance and they are already all sold out.
Between Toda City and Itabashi City, they launch approximately 13,000 fireworks including starmines and shakudama. Moreover, they set the displays to music. They normally have fireworks that explode into the face of a famous character. For example, characters from anime / cartoons. In 2019, the highlight was the Yokai Watch characters.
The fireworks are launched near Toda’s rowing race course. They estimate that about 52,000 spectators view on the Itabashi side and close to 50,000 on the Toda side. A big change in 2023, is that there will be no free viewing area on the Toda side. They are selling tickets for reserved seats in advance. (Update July 10th: the tickets are sold out). There are generally about 80 festival stalls on the Todabashi side of Arakawa river that evening / night.

Date: Saturday August 5th, weather permitting. (They usually go ahead if there is just light rain. Check the official website below for any last minute changes / cancellations).
Time: 7 to 8.30 pm
Cost: tickets are now sold out as of July 10th 2023.
Venue: Please refer to your ticket for which viewing area you are in. The fireworks are launched between the west and east viewing areas on the Arakawa embankment.
