Each year in summer, the Dewa community in Koshigaya City, near Tokyo, have a summer festival. For years, the festival culminated with a fireworks display. However, since 2024, they no longer have the fireworks in the summer, but host them in autumn instead. In 2024, for the initial year of the change, they quoted the ‘extreme heat’ of summer as the reason for the change in their date. This year, 2026, they will be on the last Saturday of September – this Saturday, the 26th. They will be postponed until Sunday 27th if there is bad weather on the 26th, and until October 3rd if there is bad weather on the 27th too!
Dewa Community Fireworks Display
The fireworks festival is on from 5 pm to 7 pm. The fireworks are launched between 6 and 7 pm. I don’t know how many fireworks they will launch. But I know one of the highlights of this fireworks festival is the Niagara type of fireworks. Niagara fireworks are so called because they look like a waterfall cascading. They are launched at the very end of the display, at around 6.45 pm. There are some food trucks in the area for the occasion.

Date: Saturday September 26th 2026, weather permitting. If there is bad weather on the 26th they will be postponed until the 27th or October 3rd if there is also bad weather on the 28th. If there is bad weather on October 3rd too, they will be completely cancelled.
Time: from 5 pm to 7.30 pm, the fireworks are launched between 6.30 and 7.30 pm – the Niagara Fireworks from 7.15 pm.
Cost: there is no admission fee

Access
Dewa park is located along the Musashino Line train tracks, but it is bang smack halfway between two train stations! Higashi Kawaguchi and Minami Koshigaya Stations are both about a 20 minute walk from the park! There is a parking lot at the park, but the area can get very congested. Moreover, when the fireworks are on, you cannot use the parking lot. You will need to come to the fireworks display on foot, or by bike or public transport.
