Each year in November, there is a cosmos festival at the Kanamuro Cosmos fields in Iwatsuki ward. I had planned to visit the fields in 2024, but it didn’t work out unfortunately. But I know how much we all love cosmos flowers and an opportunity to pick some to bring home, so I am sharing this post now rather than waiting until I get to visit it them as that will be at least another year as I am currently out of Japan. However, as I have not been to check on them personally and they have a limited presence online, I do not know the current flowering condition of the cosmos. Presumably, if they are allowing cosmos picking they are in bloom!
Kanamuro Cosmos
I have had the cosmos of the Kanamuro area of Iwatsuki on my ‘want to go to’ list for a couple of years now, but it never seems to work out. I am not complaining, I like that I still have a few locations to look forward to! And I did get to see some really lovely new-to-me cosmos fields last year, the highlight of which was definitely the cosmos of this 🔗stunning open garden. But the Kanamuro area really does look beautiful in photos. Apart from a field of cosmos, there are some cosmos along a walkway too.
Kanamuro Cosmos Festival 2025
According to the Saitama Agricultural Policy Department the Kanamuro Cosmos Festival is on from Saturday November 1st to public holiday Monday November 3rd 2025. Each day from 10 am to 3 pm, but the 3rd seems to be the main day. On the 3rd they will have live music, a farmer’s market and free cosmos picking. There will also be food trucks.
The Kanamuro Cosmos Fields actually have a website all of their own. But surprisingly they haven’t shared information for the festival there in recent years. However, they did post on October 23rd 2025 to say the cosmos are blooming.

Access
According to a poster they posted in 2024, there is a parking lot. It is quite a journey by public transport, as it is not near any train station. Reportedly a bus goes from the west exit of Iwatsuki station to Kanamuro bus stop and takes about 18 minutes, then a 14 minute walk from the bus stop to the field. Or you can get a bus from Kasukabe station to Eminasu Iriguchi bus stop (about a 15 minute ride) and walk 15 minutes to the cosmos fields.

wherever there are flowers, we’ll find Lynda!
