Looking for a welcoming community event in Wako this October? The 41st Minami Community Centre Festival returns from October 16th to 18th, 2026, bringing together local clubs, performers, schools, organisations and residents for a weekend of exhibitions, cultural performances, workshops and family-friendly activities. This year’s theme is”For One: Creating a Circle of Smiles Together”, reflecting the festival’s focus on community connections and inclusion. In addition, the Suwa Ryokufuen Fureai Festival will also be held on the middle day: Saturday October 17th, 2026.
>>This is a local, Wako community type festival. If you are looking for a large, traditional autumn festival, do not miss the Kawagoe Festival on both Saturday and Sunday, also on the Tobu Tojo line.
The 41st Minami Community Centre Festival
Throughout the three days, visitors can enjoy stage performances including taiko drumming, brass band music, hula dancing, folk dancing, gospel singing, ukulele performances and yosakoi dancing. There will also be exhibitions showcasing local school projects, artwork, calligraphy and handmade crafts, along with a hands-on magatama-making workshop inspired by the area’s history. Food trucks are available on Saturday only, last orders at 2.30 pm. On Sunday, visitors can browse stalls selling fresh local vegetables, baked goods, crafts, popcorn and other community-produced items.
Suwa Ryokufuen Fureai Festival
Saturday’s Fureai Festival at the neighbouring disability support facility, adds even more to explore, with food served by Suwa Ryokufuen, kitchen cars, creative displays by facility users and a lively yosakoi performance by Asaka Mizoren.
More than just a festival, the event is an opportunity to discover local groups, support community initiatives and experience the friendly atmosphere that makes neighborhood festivals in Japan so special.

Date: Minami Community Center Festival from Friday October 16th to Sunday October 18th 2026, Suwa Ryokufen Fureai Festival on Saturday October 17th only.
Time: exhibitions from 9 am to 4 pm on the Friday, 10 am to 3 pm on Saturday (Suwa Ryokufen from 10.30 am to 2 pm), 10 am to 3 pm on Sunday.
Cost: there is no admission fee
