Experience the famous heat of Kumagaya, while eating, watching and dancing at this modern Bon Odori festival at Nittoh Kumagaya. More than 60 varieties of “delicious” (Umaimon) dishes are available at food trucks, rather than traditional festival stalls – but they will have a few of them too. The modern twist goes a step further with Bon Odori to pop tunes with a live DJ! They also have a water splashing event.

Get ready for three unforgettable summer nights for a memorable end to the summer, filled with gourmet food, music and dance, from Friday August 28th to Sunday August 30th, 2026. It is on until 9.30 pm each night, from 4 pm on Friday and from 3 pm on both Saturday and Sunday, in the parking lot beside Nittoh Mall. More than 60 varieties of delicious dishes will gather in one place; from juicy meats and pizzas to burgers, sweets, and refreshing drinks. Local restaurants and the Kumagaya Street Vendors Association will also join, offering a true taste of the city. Cash payments are accepted at most booths, but KumaPay and other cashless options are available at select stalls.
There are also festival games and booths. The Water Splash Festival adds a playful, cooling highlight to the day, especially welcome in Kumagaya’s summer heat. And they will have live performance too, including the DJ:
💃 KUMAGAYA BON ODORI — Tradition Meets Modern Beats
A highlight of the festival is the Bon Odori. Enjoy a fusion of classic Bon Odori dance with DJ music and pop tunes, creating a vibrant new style of celebration. The dance will be held three times daily around the central stage and tower. Everyone is welcome to join in, even if you don’t know the steps.

Cost: there is no admission fee. Bring some yenny to enjoy the food trucks (or kitchen cars as they are called in Japan).

Access: Nittoh Mall is located right next to JR Kumagaya Station (Takasaki Line / Chichibu Tetsudo Line). There are coin parking lots in the area, but it might be hard to come by a vacant spot if this event is as busy as is expected.
