Event information for both the 32nd annual Hydrangea Festival and 35th International friendship fair which are on the same day, this June, in Sayama City. Both festivals take place simultaneously in a small park, in a residential area, that is known as an hydrangea park. According to Sayama City, there are approximately 2000 hydrangea, of 25 varieties, in the park;
Sayama Hydrangea Festival
The festival is on at Nakahara Park, in a residential area of Saitama, near Shin Sayama station. Each year for the occasion they have a mini steam locomotive that runs just outside the park. This year once again they will have some food stalls on the day selling things such as shaved ice and yakisoba. You can pick up beer too! There will also be international stalls with cuisine from other countries, such as India, Philippines and Nepal, as part of the international friendship event. In addition, there will be some live performances, including Japanese performances of taiko and yosakoi as well as international performances too.
