The Watsu Street Market is a regular event in the Iwatsuki Ward of Saitama City. There is on average one street market a month, but none in December or January. Moreover, each month they have a different theme. Most often the month’s market is on during the day, but sometimes it’s on at night, particularly in the hot months.
Watsu Market
The Watsu Market came back in September after a two-month break (due to hot weather). It is on again in October, with its annual Halloween theme. This month it is not a night market, but on during the day. However, it will close with a very special event from 5 pm to 5.30 pm – a switch on for the brand new ‘Chillumination Iwatsuki‘. At the Watsu Market they have food stalls and food trucks, family activities and handmade craft stalls. They have several music performances on the day, as always. There are different groups performing on the day. You can see details for each (in Japanese) on the official website linked at the bottom of the post. There are also the usual food trucks and shop stalls as well as crafts.

One of the most popular and special of the Watsu Markets, is a special night market that is only on a handful of times a year, with illumination and other extras.

Access
It is easiest to come by public transport – Iwatsuki station is on the Tobu Urban Park Line, Noda line. The market is at the east exit. There are some coin parking lots in the area if you come by car.
The official website had lots of great information. It was in the Japanese language but it is quite visual. But in April 2026 the domain has expired. 🙁 They are now sharing information on Kirari Iwatsuki.

| The April Watsu Market is at the East exit of Iwatsuki Station, but on the same day – April 18th 2026 – at the North exit there is a festival from 10 am to 3 pm.
