Rose garden Konosu

As part of the larger Konosu flower festival there is a rose festival at a beautiful rose garden in Konosu City each year in May. It is known as the “Kawasato venue” of the flower festival. The spring rose festival is on from May 9th to May 24th, 2026. They also have a rose festival again in October during the autumn rose season, see the Information section for dates.

Rose Garden Konosu

The principle rose garden in Konosu is at ‘The Pavilion of Flower and Music Kawasato Kakyu no Sato’. (Hereafter Kakyu no Sato). It is so named, because of the rose garden and because the facility hosts several music events. Kakyu no Sato is a traditional manor house with a Nagaya-mon (gate), Omoya building and an annex. It has the most beautiful dolls display annually in February. You can see photos of the dolls and read more general information about the facility in this English language post. This post concentrates on the roses.

There are two main rose gardens – they feed into each other. They have about 1000 roses in total, but it feels like a lot more due to all the different varieties and colors. One of the gardens is back-dropped by the manor house and has a lovely rose trellis. As well as a beautiful rose arch. Each have rose pagodas. In addition, they both have a few other flowers growing in the garden. Such as cornflowers, dianthus, lace flowers and delphinium, to name but a few. None of the other flowers have a large display, but it is really nicely done and they add a nice touch to the already beautiful gardens.

You can check the condition of the roses on the official website, linked below.
